February 2022 Marketing Updates

February 20th 2022

This is what is currently happening in the online-cyber security-information technology-mobile devices-digital marketing world:

A few months ago a new iOS was released by Apple increasing user preferences and transparency with their security options. Apple publicly supported privacy transparency awareness with several branded campaigns speaking out against companies sharing user information.

A very public war broke out between social media giant, Facebook, and Apple.

Facebook reportedly lost $10 billion since the iOS update took effect in November of 2021.

You might be thinking, “who cares if Facebook lost money?”

Well, Facebook isn’t the only business that has suffered from the recent iOS update.

Every single Business Page on Facebook - or any other social media application - has suffered as well.

How?

Well for starters, many business owners aren’t aware of what is happening in the cyber world or how it pertains to their digital marketing efforts; so they aren’t making any efforts to fix the recent damage.

When phone users elect to not share their data with say Facebook - Facebook is then unable to show them targeted posts and advertisements.

Not only does this update affect the total organic reach of your account and individual postings, it also changes the effectiveness of any paid ads ran on each account.

What a “boost” did for a small business yesterday with an average budget of $1 a day is now up to $25 a day.

It has now become even more crucial that each business owner is correctly reaching those that are going to turn into paying customers someday.

How can a business page manager survive the iOS update?

• Build an email list. If you haven’t already begun collecting your customer’s and client’s emails - you are about five years behind. I’m sorry. Start collecting emails immediately, as well as phone numbers for SMS Marketing in the future. Email marketing is not dead - and open rates are guaranteed to be higher than you’d expect. Email campaigns MUST be properly built, coded, and structured to be successful. If you aren’t seeing results with your current email marketing strategy it may be beneficial to reach out for assistance.

• Take that list and run targeted social media campaigns. 🤯 Boom. Did we just blow your mind? When you have a list of your customer’s emails you can then target their direct accounts across all social media platforms. Add in a pixel on your website with an additional retargeting campaign and they will constantly be seeing your offer online no matter where they go.

• One thing you can’t do is run an online ad WITHOUT an active online presence. Scams are at an all time high and buyers check your account before making a purchase. If you aren’t active, and if you don’t look AND sound professional, they will likely move on to the next. Post consistently, in a professional manner.

• Up your social media game. Take it to the next level. Step out of your comfort zone. Your brand doesn’t need to blend in with crowd and get lost in the newsfeed - it needs to stand out and grab users attention. What sort of businesses do you remember? Why? It’s not because they are just average. Not only will this make you more money - it will also save you money when the need to purchase ads disappears and your organic reach takes off.
